Colombo, the Cultural Triangle, the hill country and the south coast in one unhurried loop.
The shape of the trip
The trip we build most often, because it answers the question most people actually have: all of it, without the rush. Two nights minimum everywhere, three in the hills, and the same driver the whole way.
Land, sleep, and eat. A gentle first day through Pettah market and Gangaramaya, then dinner on Galle Face Green while the kites go up.
Anuradhapura’s stupas, Polonnaruwa by bicycle, and Sigiriya early enough to have the rock mostly to yourself. Dambulla in the late afternoon.
Kandy’s Temple of the Tooth, then the train to Ella through tea country. Two nights at a planter’s bungalow near Haputale, with a walk between estates.
Down through Ella Gap to the deep south. An afternoon game drive, then a second at dawn before the heat sets in.
Galle Fort, a quiet bay near Tangalle, and one full day with nothing scheduled at all.
A late flight means a last morning at the fort, or a detour to a cinnamon estate on the way to the airport.
