Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Kataragama and Adam’s Peak — the island’s older journeys.

From
$980 pp
Best time
December to May
Pace
Steady — early mornings, one long climb

The shape of the trip

Day by day.

A shorter trip for people who come for the sacred rather than the sea. We time it around poya days where we can, keep the group small, and make sure the guide knows the protocol as well as the history.

  1. Days 1–2

    Anuradhapura

The sacred bo tree, the Ruwanwelisaya stupa, and a slow cycle through the old city. Mihintale in the late afternoon.

  2. Days 3–4

    Kandy & Kataragama

The Temple of the Tooth at puja, then south to Kataragama for the evening ceremony and a walk along the Menik Ganga.

  3. Days 5–6

    Adam’s Peak

A night climb from Nallathanniya to be at the summit for sunrise, then a slow day recovering in a bungalow near Hatton.
